This presentation will focus on how the cone beam volumetric computed tomogram has been successfully utilized for implantology and it will also reveal its daily use in all aspects of dental practice. The cone beam computed tomogram offers dental practitioners a digital three dimensional view of the maxilla and mandible which has been highly accepted by dental practitioners and patients alike. It is office based and cost effective and can be further partnered with other technology to create 3-D CAD-CAM models and surgical guide templates for implant placement and jaw reconstruction.
The presenter will utilize five years of data and evaluation of thousands of images to demonstrate the usefulness of this technology in the performance of routine dentoalveolar surgery, evaluation and treatment of pathology, trauma, orthognathic surgery, TMJ, and airway disorders.

Steven A. Guttenberg, DDS, MD is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, practicing the full scope of his specialty in Washington, DC where he is Director of the Washington Institute for Mouth, Face and Jaw Surgery.He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, of which he is currently the President, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the teaching staff at the Washington Hospital Center and is the chairman of its Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training and Education Committee. He is a frequent lecturer throughout the United States and abroad as well. Dr. Guttenberg has written numerous scientific articles and book chapters which have been published in the dental and medical literature.
