Learn and
understand the basics of dental complications in patients receivingvarious treatment modalities for head and
neck cancer in order to treat the dental needs of patients before, during, and
after head and neck cancer therapies.
Learning objectives:
Perform a
comprehensive head and neck examination on a patient prior to cancer therapy
Collaborate with
the medical/dental team on a dental treatment plan for the patient before,
during and after cancer therapies
Educate the
patient in pre and post cancer treatment dental protocols
Perform necessary
dental treatments pre cancer therapy
Organize a strict
“follow up”dental program for the
cancer patient after treatments
Educate the
medical community on the need for dental evaluation and treatment before cancer
treatments-head and neck, and other cancers utilizing chemotherapy and surgery
