Ceramic Crowns: Esthetics & Function

The successful selection of ceramic material for the
restoration of teeth requiring crowns is based upon esthetics and function.
This presentation will explore the selection of ceramics from aspects of
biological compatibility, occlusion, and patient acceptance. Cases
demonstrating success and failure of currently utilized ceramic materials will
be presented.
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be
able to:
Choose appropriate ceramic materials to restore teeth
requiring crowns based upon esthetics and function
Compare and contrast the manufacturing techniques of various
ceramic crowns
Select appropriate cements for various ceramic crowns
Meet the speaker:
Chris Wyatt, BSc, DMD, MSc, Dip Pros, is Professor and Chair
of the Division of Prosthodontics & Dental Geriatrics in the Faculty of
Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Wyatt graduated with a DMD
degree from the University of British Columbia in 1986, a diploma in
Prosthodontics in 1995, and an MSc in Dentistry in 1996 from the University of
Toronto. In 2010, Dr. Wyatt was appointed as head of the new Graduate
Prosthodontics Program at UBC. He is past President of the Association of
Prosthodontists of Canada and the British Columbia Society of Prosthodontists.
