OSHA
~ Infection Control for the Dental Office Dr. Frank Barnashuk provides your dental team with the latest information on infection control and meets all of the Infection Control Continuing Education requirements for relicensure in the state of New York. Topics covered include dental unit waterlines, Hepatitis B, C and HIV, Standards for Infection Control, and practical examples of how the requirements can be incorporated into everyday practice. Dental patients and dental
health care workers can be exposed
to
pathogenic microorganisms including cytomegalovirus, HBV, HCV, herpes
simplex virus types 1 and 2, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis,
staphylococci, streptococci, and other viruses and bacteria that
colonize or infect the oral cavity and respiratory tract. Even one
incident involving unsafe or unsanitary conditions in your office can
harm morale and patient loyalty. Avoid recalling your patients for
Hepatitis and HIV testing due to a breakdown in your infection control.
Understanding and implementing effective infection control procedures
protects your employees, your patients and your good reputation. This section
highlights OSHA
standards, directives
(instructions for compliance officers), and standard interpretations
(official
letters of interpretation of the standards) related to dentistry.
