Sebastiano Andreana, DDS, MS,
is Director of Implant Dentistry and Associate Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry, at the School of Dental Medicine at the University at Buffalo. Presently is Faculty at the AAID Loma Linda Maxi Course and at the Master in Implanto-prosthesis Course in Rome, Italy. Has served as President of the American Association Dental Research, Buffalo Chapter, is reviewer for the Journal of Periodontology, Journal American Dental Association, British Dental Journal, Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, Journal of Osseointegration. Presently is Senior Associate Editor of Journal of Oral Implantology.


Michael N. Hatton , DDS, MS, is a Clinical Associate Professor in Oral Diagnostic Sciences and Clinical Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dental Medicine at Buffalo, New York. Dr. Hatton is certified by the American Boards of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Dental Anesthesiology. He holds Fellowships in American Academy of Oral Medicine and The American College of Dentists. He has also been in the private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for over 20 years, and has many publications in the scientific literature.

Advanced Surgical Implant Dentistry
A University-based Hands-on Workshop




This advanced course is designed for clinicians with some implant dentistry experience, wishing to tone their diagnostic treatment planning and expand their surgical knowledge and skills. Topics covered include: bone spreading, bone grafting, sinus grafting, intra oral onlay block grafting, soft tissue surgery including subepithelial grafting, free gingival grafting and flap manipulation, immediate load implant surgery and immediate extraction and implant placement.

Requirements involve the completion of the Basic Implant Dentistry Course
or other evidence of implant surgical experience.


Advanced Course Learning Objectives
  1. View advanced live surgery
  2. To learn sinus grafting, sinus lifts, bone spreading, membrane grafting, and block grafting
  3. To learn suturing and soft tissue surgery
  4. To learn immediate implant placement,
  5. Learn how to deal with implant complications

Adjunctive topics: Anatomy, 3-D Radiology, Oral Diagnosis, Selecting an Implant System, Pre-op Evaluation, Contraindications, Bone Biology, Bone Grafting and Membranes, Surgical Principles.
